I take the time to listen to their deepest concerns, to evaluate the defect they are worried about and often see as a handicap. I want to enhance the lives of my patients.

BROWLIFT, endoscopic

The endoscopic brow lift is applied to the upper part of the face. It is one of the most rewarding operations within the field of plastic surgery. It is the latest technique in the field of brow lift surgery .The result is a smooth and wrinkle-free forehead and eradicates the furrows between the eyebrows. The surgeon can raise and change the shape of the eyebrows and lift the upper part of the cheeks if necessary.

The endoscopic brow lift will replace a "tired, sad, or angry" look with a younger, more alert and refreshed look.

This operation is gratifying for both men and women. It is usually performed on patients of forty years of age or older, but sometimes earlier, especially when not age related, such as a hereditary trait.

The brow lift procedure

Precautions

It is recommended that the patient stop taking anti-inflammatory drugs or Aspirin two weeks prior to surgery.

The endoscopic brow lift

The endoscopic brow lift surgery lasts about 1 hour. It can be done under general anesthesia, or local anesthesia with sedation. The patient can normally go home the same day, or stay overnight.

The brow lift surgeon will  make 3 small incisions behind the hairline. The endoscope – a tube with a small camera connected to a TV screen - is introduced into one of the incisions, allowing the surgeon to work under the skin without opening up the area. Large scars are avoided and the small incisions are hidden within the hair, and therefore totally invisible.

Other areas of the face can be treated at the same time with other types of surgery, such as the eyelids - a blepharoplasty, the lower part of the face - a facelift, a peeling or a dermabration.

Postoperative care after brow lift surgery

Edema and bruising are normal (and depend on the individual ), but subside very quickly. Results are perceptible within one or two weeks. Tension, or a feeling of pressure is normally felt in the forehead during the first week. The skin on the forehead can be insensible for several weeks .It is advised to rest as much as possible during the first couple of days and to sleep with 2 extra pillows during the first 2 weeks

The incisions in the hair are closed with staples which are removed after 2 weeks. No hair is shaved!

Work can be resumed after one week.

Complications after a brow lift surgery

As with any type of surgery, complications are possible, but extremely rare and can easily be treated, such as bleeding, infection, or a small fallout of hair around the incisions. A neural injury can cause an insensitivity and/or itching in the frontal area, but will decrease over time.

The results of a brow lift

The endoscopic brow lift will give you a smoother forehead, an open gaze, a fresh , young and above all, natural look .The furrows between the eyes will disappear. This surgery however, does not affect the lower face, which is treated with a facelift. The result is visible after 2 weeks, but can be fully appreciated after 3 months. The result is very stable and usually permanent.
