AUGMENTING YOUR BREASTS WITH YOUR OWN FAT

Breast augmentation with the body’s own fat has been used for the last 25 years. Recently, as it has been more popularized by leading surgeons, the interest among our patients has increased tremendously.

This is considered to be the “Rolls Royce” of Breast augmentation. Not only does it give you beautiful breasts , but also an enhancement of the rest of the body (where the fat has been taken ).

Who is a suitable patient?

If you wish either a moderate enlargement of your breast, usually one cup size, or just a change of the shape of it, you can benefit from this technique. If you want a larger increase of the breast, you should consider a breast augmentation with implants. Other requirement is of course the availability of fat deposit on the body. Any fat can be used from the back, the hips, the buttock or the abdomen. If enough fat is not available on the body to perform your breast size, you are not a candidate for the procedure but of course you can have augmentation with implants alone or implants plus fat. During the surgery which is done under full anesthesia, fat will be harvested from the different areas earlier discussed with the patient, the fat is purified and cleansed in a special process before it is reinjected into the breast. The fat which is injected is made of living cells which are transplanted from one part of the body to another. Cells will survive the procedure that is why we normally expect about 70% of the fat to survive, which means that the breast will diminish somewhat in size during the first couple of months, but finally have a permanent size after 1 year. If needed, the procedure can be repeated. The injected fat cells in the new location will continue live as before which means that if you gain weight, the breast will also increase in size or if you lose weight, it will somewhat get smaller.

Normally the surgery is more or less painless, even if you can feel some discomfort the first couple of days from the area where the fat has been harvested by liposuction. Normal daily activities can be resumed after a couple of days and full physical exercise after about 3 weeks. You can have mammary Xrays after lipofilling or do breast feeding.

The surgery is more expensive than a breast augmentation with implants, which is explained of course by the fact that the patient receives not only a breast augmentation, but also a body contouring of one or several areas of the body by liposuction with a canula. This benefit for the patient is achieved by a careful work by the surgical team. The procedure takes between 2 and 3 hours to perform as compared to a breast augmentation with implants which takes about 1 hour. Price range is in between 7000€ and 8000€.
