BREAST LIFT

With age, pregnancies or as a result of significant weight loss, the breasts can start to sag. This is known as the ptotic breast. Overly large breasts can cause some women to have both health and social problems. In addition to self-image issues, you may also experience physical pain and discomfort. The surgical procedure, breast lift is similar to that used for breast reduction, as are the results, however it is not covered by French medical insurance. Sometimes the ptotic breasts also are missing volume. The surgeon can then use a breast implant during the procedure.

Precautions

It is advised to stop taking any medication not approved by your surgeon, especially anti-inflammatory drugs and aspirin during the fifteen days prior to the operation.

The breast lift operation

The operation is carried out under general anesthesia and lasts two to three hours.

Hospitalisation lasts one night.

A similar technique described in reduction mammaplasty are applied most of the time. In rare cases of small breast size, with a narrow base and little ptosis, an incision around the areola alone can be proposed.

Postoperative care after a breast lift

The complications of breast lift

They are rare, and the same as those described for reduction mammaplasty.

The results of breast lift

The final results of your breast lift will appear over the next few months as breast shape and position continue to settle.

Incision lines are permanent, either vertical or inversed T-shape, but will continue to fade over time.

Breast lift cosmetic surgery is one of the most appreciated operations, especially after several pregnancies.

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to book a consultation with Dr Catherine Bergeret for an individual evaluation of you.
